The county's tobacco use prevention coordinator is happy to offer you the opportunity to come to a virtual training about young people and vaping. This training will be provided by Bruce Baldwin, who has more than 20 years of experience working with youth to help prevent, and treat, tobacco and nicotine addiction. There will be a family input meeting on Tuesday, March 15, regarding student achievement, unmet needs, and items to include in our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). This is your chance to make sure we hear your opinions about what you'd like to see in our district that will have a positive impact on students. Today, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) updated how it determines what constitutes transmission levels of COVID-19. According to their updated website, “Levels can be low, medium, or high and are determined by looking at hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area.” Siskiyou County is currently in the “High” level. Our policies state that we will follow the guidelines released by the CDC and the CA Department of Public Health (CDPH). Because our policy is to follow the recommendations of the CDC and the CDPH, the moves by the CDC and the governor will largely determine how we move forward with our COVID protocols. We will keep our educational partners informed of the state-level changes and how they may affect our own decisions.
