One last post for today - We are excited to share information about a new way of thinking about the school experience that our teachers are embracing for next year. It's called the flipped classroom, and we feel it fits perfectly into a distance learning or blended learning model. The video at this link will give you more information about this concept. Please check it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojiebVw8O0g&feature=youtu.be

This week we celebrate our classified employees and their vital contribution to student learning and well being. We have classified members who are feeding our students, cleaning and sanitizing our schools to keep our staff safe, keeping vital office and library services going, delivering meals and learning packets, and assisting our teachers with lesson preparation and student contact during distance learning. We are grateful and celebrate the efforts of our classified employees!

At last night's board meeting (5/13/2020), the trustees adopted the following grading policy, which differs slightly from the first reading a month ago. If you have any questions, please check with your child's teacher or your school's principal. The policy is pasted here for your convenience:
Grade TK-3 teachers will continue their report cards as best as they can given the limitations with distance learning.
Grade 4-5 teachers will use credit, no credit, and credit + in recording student grades.
Grade 6-8 teachers will continue using A-F while taking into account the special circumstances and effects of the COVID-19 virus on student progress.
If there are any families looking for additional food, please take note of the following: Call St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry at (530) 926-3061 and leave a message any time. Call for food. Volunteers will return your call, ask how many in the family, and ages of kids to package appropriate food items. Volunteers respond to calls on Mon, Wed, and Fri. They will arrange a time for you to come and pick up the food.
Teacher Appreciation Week is here! Please join us in thanking our teachers for all they do, especially given all the recent changes facing all of us lately.

Earlier this month, the school board had its first reading regarding the grading policies of the district in the context of our distance learning model. In line with guidance from the California Department of Education, students’ grades can only go up from where they were when we switched to distance learning; the grades cannot go down. For questions regarding your child’s specific grade level and grading, please reach out to your child’s teacher or principal.

This year, we are accepting teacher requests via email or a simple note dropped off at your school's office. Please have your requests in by the end of April.
